Letter from the Chair & Chair-Elect

Greetings from the Stroke ISIG Chair & Chair-Elect!

We send you this message with best wishes for the new year and to also let you know about recent activities and endeavors for our group in 2020.

ACRM is committed to improving the lives of persons with disabilities and the Stroke ISIG embraces and echoes this vision and mission. Much of the accomplishments we have made come from the collaborative efforts which happen in the task forces. These smaller groups allow for leadership and participation such that we can build capacity within our group and throughout the organization. Together, these groups then work to represent the ISIG to the community. We also interact with other community groups in order to have a more comprehensive impact overall.

Our task forces address a wide range of topics for the stroke survivor including communication, movement, health, wellness, vision, pharmacy, continuity of care, and pediatric needs.

As a member of the Stroke ISIG, you can contribute to and learn alongside our active leadership. Remember that not only are you able to offer your skills and knowledge, the Stroke ISIG may also support your career development, expand your professional network, offer potential for collaborations, support dissemination of evidence-informed knowledge, and improve the lives of stroke survivors around the world.

Please take a moment to look at the online resources as well as specifics related to all task force and ISIG goals. We point out a few items here for your reference. In 2020, we will continue to offer the online webinars to our members. Task forces continue to create resources for knowledge translation which can be directly incorporated into clinical scenarios. Additionally, there are numerouhttps://acrm.org/resources/video-library/s other opportunities. Also, we have an Early Career Liaison and an International Networking Group Liaison to support you to link to others given your interests.

Please reach out to any of us with questions or interest or anything else you may need at any time.

Thank you for your interest and we look forward to this year and beyond!

Sincerely,

Mark Kovic, OTD, OTR/L, FAOTA
