ACRM Mourns the Loss and Celebrates the Life of Robert ‘Bobby’ Silverstein
ACRM is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Robert ‘Bobby’ Silverstein. ACRM’s CEO Jon Lindberg shares his memories of working with Mr. Silverstein, “Robert was such a wonderful man that I’ve had the pleasure to work with for over 15 years. He was an incredible and passionate leader in the disabilities legal community. ACRM has had the pleasure of being a partner with the Powers Group (formerly known as PPSV) for over 50 years, since 1972. During his tenure at the Powers Group, Bobby worked directly with ACRM to achieve many accomplishments at the legislature level including the Workforce Investment Act of 2012 when Bobby worked directly with congressional leaders. In 2014, Mr. Silverstein was able to reach a bipartisan agreement to reauthorize the Workforce Investment Act and the Rehabilitation Act. In February of 2021, Bobby Silverstein worked alongside ACL leadership to craft key priorities the Biden Administration should focus on as they related to the disability community. Throughout his career, Bobby Silverstein advocated for the need and importance of ensuring meaningful and effective access to disability, independent living and rehabilitation services, support, and equity. The ACRM is forever grateful for the dedication and commitment to rehabilitation advocacy that Bobby Silverstein continuously strived for in legislation. We will miss those attributes, but most of all we will miss his friendship.
