They are experts in their fields, and they’re also experts on ATLANTA. Here’s what ACRM Atlanta members recommend about their city…
Mike Jones, PhD, FACRM
“Grab one of the bike share bikes and head over to the Beltline.
It’s an easy ride on the PATH Trail from downtown. Take in Krog Market, south end of the trail, or head north and visit Ponce City Market and Piedmont Park.
If you are a history buff, check out the Atlanta History Museum in Buckhead. Centennial Park has the Aquarium, World of Coke (kids love it if you don’t mind the sugar high), and the Civil Rights Museum (ADA exhibit is worth a visit).
Little Five Points has great music venues. Jump on MARTA and visit Decatur – bustling town square with lots of restaurants. Up and coming Westside has the best restaurants, brew pubs, and TopGolf!”
—Michael Jones, PhD, FACRM
What’s Fun in Atlanta…
Four out of five of our resident experts recommend a tour of the Atlanta Beltline. Grab a bike from one of the bike share rental services around town and go for a ride.
If you’ve got the time, go hiking at East Pallisades Park! Sarah Callahan recommends getting take-out from Heirloom Bar-B-Que and having a picnic lunch halfway through the hike. It’s right across the Chattahoochee River from East Pallisades Park.
John Morris, PhD
How Would You Describe Atlanta?
“Lots of energy. Dynamic.”
—John Morris, PhD
John Morris recommends one of the numerous brewery tours in town, especially Orpheus Brewing in Piedmont Park. Or if you’d rather have a meal, check out one of the top-floor rotating lounges in downtown—both the Sundial Bar on top of Westin Peachtree Plaza and the Polaris Restaurant on top of the Hyatt Regency are just blocks away from the conference. For something more casual, try the best BBQ in town at Fat Matt’s.
Sarah Callahan, MOT, OTR/L
The Best Thing About Atlanta Is…
“All of the green spaces tucked around the city. There are so many great places to hike right around or within an hour of Atlanta!”
—Sarah Callahan, MOT, OTR/L
Julie Gassaway agrees!
She loves the outdoor parks and the chance to get away from the big-city feel for a while. They’re a great place to relax and take in nature.
If you don’t mind a ride, check out some of the restaurants she recommends in Inman Park. If you’re looking for something Southern but refined, try Wisteria. For seafood, try BeetleCat or the Ticonderoga Club.
Tracey Wallace, CCC-SLP
If you’d rather, head to one of Atlanta’s museums! Check out one of Tracey Wallace’s favorite places—the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, which is right in downtown near the conference!
“Atlanta is rich in history and diversity. It has a great music scene as well as a large variety of restaurants and museums.”
—Tracey Wallace, CCC-SLP

Sarah Callahan recommends the restaurants along Buford Highway if you’re looking for something Asian. For the best dim sum around, visit Canton House, or try Nam Phuong for Vietnamese dishes.
