Happy 2018! As we begin a new year, it’s exciting to see all the great opportunities for career development that will be offered by the ECNG this year. All of our task forces have been working hard to continue to offer quality offerings such as this quarterly newsletter, and our annual Early Career Development Course held during the ACRM Annual Conference.  We also have several new initiatives that we are excited to kick off this year.

Each spring, ACRM interdisciplinary special interest groups (ISIG), networking groups, task forces and committees gather face-to-face to work on their group’s goals and projects during the Mid-Year Meeting (MYM). This is a great way to get more involved with ISIG and networking groups, as well as network with other ACRM members.

The 2018 MYM will be held in Dallas, 12 -14 April 2018. There is no fee for member registration, but registration is required. Please help us plan for you by registering today.

We are also excited to announce that in addition to the Mid-Year Meeting, the NEW ACRM Training Institute will be held concurrently, offering your choice of 6 in-depth Instructional Courses for up to 22.5 hours of continuing education.

As part of this new programming, we will be hosting our first ECNG Mentor Training. This training targets ACRM members at all career stages who are interested in honing their mentoring skills. This interactive training will give participants an opportunity to learn from others through a series of case studies and panel discussions. Whether you are a new faculty member just starting to mentor students and trainees, or a senior investigator with years of mentoring experience, we hope this training will offer something for anyone looking to improve their mentoring skills.

Be on the lookout for more programming information, and visit the ACRM website to register.

We also have openings for several positions within the ECNG and will be issuing a call for nominations for these in the coming months. These positions all offer a great way to get more involved with ACRM and build your professional network. Please consider nominating a colleague (or yourself) for any of the following positions when the call for nominations is announced: Early Career Networking Group Chair-elect, Mentoring Task Force Chair-elect, and Early Career Development Course Chair-elect. If you would like more information on any of these positions, feel free to email me at bcwingo@uab.edu.
