Monica Wright imageMonica has over 20 years’ experience in coding, billing and practice management. She has three certifications and has taught coding and billing to students, physicians, and staff of private medical practices and within hospital settings. She currently serves as Manager, Coding and Payment Policy at AOTA.

 

GUEST SPEAKER: TAMMY RICHMOND

Tammy Richmond imageTammy Richmond, MS OTR/L, FAOTA is a leading expert in clinical rehabilitation and wellness services with over 30 years of experience. She is a consultant in practice operations and management, and an entrepreneur and leader in advancing emerging practice areas, including telehealth. Ms. Richmond’s interest in telehealth began in 2008. Since that time, her name has become synonymous with telerehabilitation as she is a recognized leader in this emerging area. Ms. Richmond served as Chair of the Telerehabilitation Special Interest Group of the American Telemedicine Association and has co-authored national and international standards and guidelines and spearheaded policy initiatives to facilitate telehealth innovation, practice adoption and reimbursement.

Ms. Richmond is also a leader in administrative and clinical management and is the author of a best-selling practice management textbook. Overall, she has authored 20 professional publications, has given over 100 professional presentations, and guest lectures year round at a leading teaching institutions, such as the University of Southern California, Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, (USC).

Ms. Richmond is a recognized expert and mentor in private practice, entrepreneurship, marketing, reimbursement, and policy. She has dedicated the last 15 years to volunteer leadership and service in state and national professional organizations including the Occupational Therapy Association of California (OTAC), the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), and the American Telemedicine Association (ATA).

Ms. Richmond also serves on several organization committees and professional workgroups including; OTAC Policy, Practice and Reimbursement Committee, AOTA Telehealth Ad Hoc Committee, ATA Telerehabilitation Special Interest Group (Chair), American Medical Association Telehealth Coding Workgroup, and past UnitedHealth/OPTUM Professional Advisory Council.
For fun, Ms. Richmond serves on the advisory team for two other telehealth start-ups; MFaST, a 3D ROM measurement tool and PersonalRN, m-health patient population post- acute monitoring tool.
