Volume 6, Number 1: Fall 2023 Edition

A Note from Your M-ISIG Chair

Welcome to Summer 2023! The Measurement Interdisciplinary Special Interest Group (M-ISIG) continues to focus on the development, application, utilization and evaluation of measurement tools to advance rehabilitation theory and practice. The M-ISIG has been active and there are several opportunities for ACRM members to join in the activities. We currently have 7 Task Forces that you will read about in this newsletter. We have one newer task force, the Stakeholder Engagement Task Force, led by Al Kozlowski and Jen Weaver, who are coordinating a Special Issue in Archives focusing on work collaborating with patients and their care partners. In addition, the Measurement Forum, led by Al Kozlowski, will provide a mechanism for everyone to ask questions about measurement tools. We have 5 additional task forces that are active and productive and always interested in bringing on new members.

This year the Annual Conference will be back in Atlanta. We have 5 Instructional Courses and 14 Symposia, and we encourage everyone to watch their email for information about these exciting presentations (instructional courses, symposia, paper presentations and posters) that will focus on measurement at the Annual Conference. Some topics include: Applied Measurement for Rehabilitation Clinicians (IC); Introduction to Item Response Theory for Rehabilitation Outcomes (IC); Person-Centered Measurement: Engaging Patient and Caregiver Partners for Better Measurement and Better Care (symposium); Statistical Power in Rehabilitation Clinical Trials (symposium); Development, Implementation, and Enhancement of a Care Navigation Program following Inpatient Rehabilitation for Stroke (symposium); and Rehabilitation Research Trial Design: Determining the Active Ingredients of the Experimental and Control Groups (symposium).

Please feel free to contact us to learn more about the exciting work of the M-ISIG and if you would like to come on board with any of these activities. We look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you to the M-ISIG!

With Warm Regards from your M-ISIG Chair,
Linda Ehrlich-Jones
