Chronic Brain Injury Task Force
The Chronic Brain Injury Task Force was awarded funding from the BI-ISIG for their proposal entitled, When Your Patient is Living with Brain Injury: Tips for Primary Care Physicians and Community Healthcare Professionals. Lenny Hawley, MSSW, LCSW, CBIST; Summer Ibarra, PhD; Wendy Waldman, BSW; Tiffany Armstrong, MSN; Flora Hammond, MD, FACRM and Early Career Member, Tasnia Iqbal, BS, will lead this project. The proposed project is to create a tipcard for Primary Care Physicians. This tipcard will outline the long-term sequelae of BI, life issues affected by these sequelae, specific tips for successful interactions/appointments with individuals living with BI, and national BI resources for education, support and advocacy.
Disorders of Consciousness Task Force
The Disorders of Consciousness Task Force was awarded funding from the BI-ISIG for their proposal entitled, DOC Family Education Materials. Susan Johnson, Chris Carter, PhD, Katie O’Brien, PhD, Amy Rosenbaum, PhD, FACRM, Nicole Cagnon, LCSW, Ritika Tehren, OTR, Kathryn Farris, OTR, and Early Career Member, Shanti Pinto, MD will lead this project. The proposed project aims to fill an important identified gap, which is to systematically evaluate and identify accurate education materials for families and caregivers who have loved ones in DOC. A completed document is expected to be housed on the ACRM website for families to access.
