2019 Conference Highlights

Join us in Chicago for two amazing symposia to discuss progress on the NIDILRR and PCORI-funded Rehabilitation Treatment Specification System!

Rehabilitation Treatment Specification System – Part 1 – Defining Rehab Treatments Systematically >>

November 7
10:30 AM – 11:45 AM

This symposium will describe progress on the RTSS (formerly Rehabilitation Treatment Taxonomy project) in developing an interprofessional standardized system for defining rehabilitation treatments. Examples of common clinical treatments and case scenarios will:

1. Elucidate the structure, principles, and terminology of the RTSS
2. Facilitate reflection about active ingredients and targets of intervention
3. Demonstrate how the RTSS can stimulate critical thinking and strengthen clinical reasoning underlying the planning and delivery of interventions.

Finally, we will review the benefits of treatment specification, such as enhancing research, practice, clinical education, and communication across disciplines. Learn more >>

Rehabilitation Treatment Specification System Part 2 – Initial Use in Education, Clinic & Research >>

7 November
1:30 PM – 2:45 PM

The Rehabilitation Treatment Specification System (RTSS) is a conceptual framework whose use is hypothesized to provide benefits across the scope of rehabilitation in the areas of education, clinical practice, and research. This symposium will review implementation projects that have used the RTSS in these domains. For each of these areas, the audience will be engaged in discussion to help identify additional promising applications and future directions for implementation of the RTSS.

Participants will be encouraged to consider how the use of the RTSS might impact their area of rehabilitation, and resources to assist with implementation will be identified.  Learn more >>
