Congratulations to Tawnee Sparling

Tawnee Sparling imageCongratulations to LRRNG’s communications officer, Tawnee Sparling, on giving her grand rounds at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital on 10 April 2020. Tawnee is a fourth-year physical medicine and rehabilitation resident and presented her talk, titled On the Cutting Edge: Innovations in Amputee Care, as a way to present her special interests and research to her colleagues in the Boston area. She subsequently was asked to re-present her talk on the international level virtually for the Cambridge Medical & Rehabilitation Centers in the Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, UAE on 21 July 2020.

Congratulations to Janet Panoch

Janet Panoch imageCongratulations to former Implementation Research Task Force co-chair, Janet Panoch, on presenting her abstracts at the Association of Children’s Prosthetic-Orthotic Clinics (ACPOC) conference in March 2020. The task force submitted a pediatric collaborative needs assessment with UNC-Chapel Hill, ACRM, and the Amputee Coalition. This study will be recruiting pediatric families and adults over the age of 18 for a report on access to care and education from the patient’s perspective. The abstract, titled Challenges to Success and Support in the Pediatric Limb Loss/Limb Difference Population: An Interdisciplinary Research Collaboration was presented on Thursday, 19 March 2020.

Her second abstract, titled Amputation Patient Decision Aid for Osteosarcoma of the Lower Extremity: Which Option is Best for My Child – Amputation, Rotationplasty, or Limb Salvage Surgery, was part of a five-year funded study with the ACL and the Amputee Coalition and was presented on Saturday, 21 March 2020.
