Refugee Empowerment Task Force

FOCUS

We are a group of ACRM ING members who want to actively engage in solutions and projects that eventually improve the quality of life for individuals who are facing the double disadvantage of being disabled and refugees/asylum seekers. While we acknowledge the geographic, professional and budgetary limits of this task within the purview of a nonprofit association, we aim to be part of the solution by expanding our own expertise within the ING by:

  • Leveraging our existing networks from various academic disciplines
  • Simultaneously looking for ways to empower and contribute to ongoing or planned projects in various refugee-populated regions around the world

MISSION

  • To publicly attend to, identify, quantify, address the needs of the individuals with disabilities who are living as refugees or asylum seekers in various parts of the world
  • To find innovative ways to augment, empower and support ongoing humanitarian projects led by local and international organizations actively working with refugees with disabilities with the rehabilitation research and clinical know-how of task force members
