The ACRM Awards Committee and Archives Editorial Board are pleased to honor Senem Demirdel, PT, PhD with the 2021 Elizabeth & Sidney Licht Award for her paper, Investigation of the Effects of Dual-Task Balance Training on Gait and Balance in Transfemoral Amputees: A Randomized Controlled Trial. This award will be presented at the ACRM 2021 VIRTUAL Annual Conference.

ABOUT SENEM DEMIRDEL

Mrs. Senem Demirdel is a graduate of Dumlupınar University, Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation. She completed master’s and doctorate education at Hacettepe University, Prosthetics, Orthotics and Biomechanics Programme. She worked as a research assisstant in the Prosthetics-Orthotics unit of Hacettepe University during the doctorate education. She works in the field of prosthetics, orthotics and biomechanics, amputee rehabilitation and physical activity in the elderly. She stated that dual-task training is a method that can be used to increase task automation in amputee rehabilitation, with her study showing that dual-task balance exercises improve dual-task balance and mobility performance and cognitive status more than single-task exercises in individuals with transfemoral amputation. She is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation at the University of Health Sciences Turkey. She continues to give lectures in the undergraduate Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation and Department of Orthotics Prosthetics. She is a member of Turkey Association of Physiotherapists and Prosthetics and Orthotics Science Association.
