Deborah L. Wilkerson Early Career Award 2022 Recipient
The Awards Committee is pleased to honor Tolu Oyesanya, PhD, RN with the 2022 Deborah L. Wilkerson Early Career Award supported by CARF International. This award recognizes the significant contributions she has made to rehabilitation research during her early career work.
Dr. Oyesanya will be presented the Wilkerson Award at the ACRM 2022 Annual Conference.
ABOUT TOLU OYESANYA
Tolu Oyesanya, PhD, RN, is an Associate Professor at Duke University School of Nursing. Her research program centers on patient- and family-centered care and support of adult patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and their family caregivers. Her current research focuses on developing and testing interventions to improve the TBI transition from acute hospital care to home for patients and caregivers. Dr. Oyesanya is also a qualitative expert, with over 10 years of experience using qualitative research methodologies. Dr. Oyesanya earned her BS, MS, and PhD in Nursing from University of Wisconsin-Madison. She completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Brain Injury Research at Shepherd Center in Atlanta, GA. Her research has been supported by several federal and intramural awards. Dr. Oyesanya is actively involved in various professional organizations, including as chair of the Mentoring Task Force of the Career Development Networking Group with the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine and as a member of the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses and the International Brain Injury Association.
