TNG Community Group Meeting

TNG Newsletter Chair

Anna Kilbourn, PT, DPT
Clinical Review Lead
Myomo

Q&A:

Please tell us about your professional background.

I hold a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Michigan and spent eight years working clinically in outpatient, orthopedics, sports medicine, and home health settings. I received my orthopedic clinical specialist (OCS) certification in 2026. I now work at Myomo as a Clinical Review Lead and member of the Market Access team (Myomo is a biotech start-up which seeks to improve the lives of individuals with upper extremity paralysis by providing innovative medical devices).

What interested you in the ACRM Technology Networking Group?

I am deeply passionate about the application of technology in the rehabilitation space. Technology has great potential to improve many lives, and the use of it should be driven by and for clinicians who best understand the impact on their patients. I was drawn to the TNG as a space to connect with like-minded individuals and give back to my community.

In your professional roles, what is a challenge or limitation you have encountered with technology? How did you resolve it, or does the issue persist?

The main challenge which I encounter in my professional role is getting access for patients to new technology. For new technology services, the availability of insurance reimbursement drives adoption, but on the other side of the coin, adoption itself drives insurance reimbursement. I work every day to advocate both for individual patients, and for big-picture changes to address this persistent problem.

What advice would you give to any healthcare professional who wants to get more involved in technology?

Be curious and give yourself the option to explore! Look for ways to involve technology in your daily clinical practice. Say yes to interesting volunteer opportunities and side projects. You never know where that might lead you!

Outside of professional activities, what hobbies do you enjoy?

About six months ago I joined a pottery studio. Clay is a great medium – it will teach you an incredible amount of patience! When it works out, the results are very rewarding. I highly recommended it.

Please reach out if you’re open to being on our next member spotlight!
