Volume X, Number X: Fall 2024 Edition
A Note from Your M-ISIG Chair
Hello and welcome to Fall 2024! I’m excited to kick off another year with all of you as we work together to advance the field of rehabilitation measurement. It’s an honor to serve as the Chair of the Measurement Interdisciplinary Special Interest Group (M-ISIG). I look forward to collaborating with you to achieve our shared goals and make a meaningful impact in the field.
Our core mission at M-ISIG is to produce and synthesize evidence for psychometrically robust and enhanced measurement practices that not only improve patient care but also shape healthcare policy. Our vision is to establish M-ISIG as the leading community for the development, application, evaluation, and utilization of measurement instruments.
In 2024, we are excited to introduce two new task forces: (1) Equity and Inclusivity in Measurement, and (2) Measurement Innovations: Integrating Machine Learning and Digital Technologies in Rehabilitation. The Equity and Inclusivity Task Force aims to advance equitable and culturally responsive measurement practices, addressing disparities across diverse languages and cultures. The Measurement Innovations Task Force focuses on integrating cutting-edge machine learning and digital technologies into clinical research, enhancing research design and data analysis in rehabilitation.
We are also eagerly anticipating the 2024 American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine (ACRM) conference in Dallas, Texas. This event is an excellent opportunity for us to share ideas, collaborate, and showcase the impactful work of our community. I encourage you to participate actively and take full advantage of this platform.
If you are interested in learning more about our initiatives or getting involved in M-ISIG activities, please feel free to contact us. Your expertise and enthusiasm are essential to the continued success of our mission. Let’s work together to advance the field of measurement in rehabilitation!
Warm regards,
Alex Wong, PhD
