New Program Director at the University of Pittsburgh

Accomplishment: ACRM congratulates longtime member Dr. Julie Faieta on her appointment as the Program Director of the Master of Rehabilitation Technology Program in the Department of Rehabilitation Science & Technology at the University of Pittsburgh. In addition to this new leadership role, Dr. Faieta continues to serve as an Assistant Professor, advancing cutting-edge work at the intersection of rehabilitation science, technology, and clinical innovation. Among her many leadership roles within ACRM, Dr. Faieta serves as the Chair of the ACRM Complementary Integrative Rehabilitation Medicine Networking Group.
ACRM celebrates Dr. Faieta’s achievements and the impact her leadership will continue to have on the next generation of rehabilitation professionals.
Abiodun Akinwuntan, PhD, MPH, MBA, MIH

Accomplishment: Abiodun Akinwuntan is honored to be invited to join the Lancet Neurology Commission on Neurorehabilitation as a Commissioner. The Commission, with the World Health Organization, is determined to reduce deaths and disabilities and improve the wellbeing of people with neurological conditions through cost-effective pragmatic evidence-based solutions. As one of a few selected commissioners worldwide, the goal is to develop pragmatic solutions for managing common causes of neurological disabilities across the globe through design, contextualization, dissemination, uptake, implementation, evaluation, and sustainability of solutions.
Juliet Haarbauer-Krupa, PhD, FACRM
Adjunct Faculty, Emory University School of Medicine

Accomplishment: Dr. Haarbauer-Krupa has over 40 years of clinical experience and many publications in the area of acquired brain injury. She is Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Pediatrics, Emory University School of Medicine. Her original work started as a co-author with Dr. Mark Ylvisaker in the book titled, Head Injury Rehabilitation: Children and Adolescents. She was principal investigator of a federal longitudinal study at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for a NIDRR field -initiated grant to investigate reading and language outcomes of preschool children with TBI, a pilot study to investigate transition to adulthood in adolescents with complex medical conditions, and a grant funded transition program for teens with acquired brain injury. Previously she was a Senior Health Scientist on the Traumatic Brain Injury Team, Division of Injury Prevention, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
