Congratulations 2023 Award Recipient

 

 

The Excellence in Cancer Rehabilitation Award recognizes someone who has demonstrated excellence in the field of interdisciplinary cancer rehabilitation in one or more important areas including, but not limited to, clinical care, medical education or research.

The 2023 Excellence in Cancer Rehabilitation Award recognizes Kathleen Lyons, ScD, OTR/L for the important contributions he has made to the field of cancer rehabilitation medicine. This award will be presented during the Cancer Rehabilitation Networking Group Business meeting at the ACRM 2023 Annual Conference in. Please join us in congratulating him for this outstanding achievement.

 

ABOUT KATHLEEN LYONS

Kathleen Lyons, ScD, OTR/L is Professor of Occupational Therapy at Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions where she directs the Cancer Rehabilitation (CaRe) Lab. She is a rehabilitation scientist and occupational therapist whose research is focused on developing the evidence base for cancer rehabilitation and psycho-oncology. Her primary area of interest is in developing and testing participant-directed interventions that are tailored to address individual priorities and needs. Dr. Lyons uses both qualitative and quantitative methodologies to explore and improve the functional recovery and quality of life of adult cancer survivors. Her research has been funded by the American Cancer Society, National Cancer Institute, and the American Occupational Therapy Foundation. Dr. Lyons has mentored graduate students and junior faculty in the disciplines of occupational therapy, nursing, psychology, medicine, and physical therapy. She is committed to a team science model and is passionate about teaching students to standardize, deliver, and evaluate rehabilitation interventions using mixed methods that are informed by community-engaged methods and implementation science. A primary goal of the CaRe Lab is to stimulate productive collaborations between scientists and practitioners that both foster evidence-based practice and utilize practice-based evidence.
