BI-ISIG Moving Ahead

 2025 Fall Edition

Letter from the Editor

Dear BI-ISIG Community,

I’m delighted to share the Fall issue of Moving Ahead, which arrives just in time for ACRM’s 102nd Annual Conference in Chicago, October 27–30. The Fall Conference is always an exciting time for our group, offering opportunities to reconnect, share knowledge, and welcome new members into our community.

This issue features congratulations to our 2025 Early Career Scholarship Award recipients. Each of these outstanding scholars will be attending the conference to present their research, deepen their engagement with BI-ISIG, and continue building the professional and personal connections that make ACRM so valuable to all of us. I encourage you to read about their backgrounds—and to introduce yourself when you see them in Chicago!

We are also thrilled about the BI-ISIG programming planned for the conference. Highlights include the Chautauqua, delivered by our past and current BI-ISIG Presidents Drs. Kristen Dams-O’Connor, Shannon Jeungst, and Yelena Bodien; the Mark Ylvisaker Memorial Pediatric TBI Lecture, presented this year by Dr. Gerard Gioia; and a Special Symposium on Navigating Health Care After TBI. These sessions promise to be both timely and inspiring.

In this issue, we spotlight the important work of our Cultural and Diversity Task Force, recognize this year’s Task Force award winners, and share new publications from the mTBI Task Force on the medical-legal implications of ACRM’s updated case definition and diagnostic criteria for mTBI. We also celebrate one of our members, Dr. Juliet Krupa, who has been awarded the prestigious Moody Prize for her contributions to brain injury rehabilitation.

It is inspiring to reflect on the incredible accomplishments of our community and the continued energy brought by our early career and new members. I look forward to seeing many of you in Chicago as we come together once again to advance the science and practice of brain injury rehabilitation.

Sincerely,
Amanda Rabinowitz, PhD
Communications Chair, ACRM BI-ISIG
