COURSE DESCRIPTION
As a related talking point, course participants and all ACRM members are invited to watch a free screening of the film, “PICTURE A SCIENTIST” 12 – 18 March. Instructions for viewing will be provided to attendees and to ACRM members. More about the film here.
This full-day intensive cross-cutting course is designed to build capacity among rehabilitation professionals to foster the inclusion and professional growth of researchers and clinicians from a variety of backgrounds, with a particular focus on members of underrepresented communities.
The course features experts in diversity, mentoring, self-advocacy, and leadership development. Learners will be empowered with strategies they can apply in their own lives and in their organizations to foster welcoming, supportive professional communities.
The course includes a blend of lectures and LIVE discussion to engage learners and provide opportunities for dialogue on these important topics.
All rehabilitation professionals are welcome!
Leaders of ACRM communities, task forces, and committees are particularly encouraged to attend.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Discuss opportunities to enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion in the rehabilitation professional community, both within and outside of ACRM.
- Describe characteristics that mentoring programs should include to facilitate the growth of professionals from a variety of backgrounds, particularly members of underrepresented groups.
- Identify self-advocacy strategies that rehabilitation professionals can use to foster their professional development in research, clinical practice, and leadership.

The ACRM Spring Meeting is also a venue for networking and collaborating within the ACRM interdisciplinary community groups and committees. Come find your tribe, contribute to the field, and become a member of this vibrant and welcoming community. These groups are the heart of ACRM, working to IMPROVE LIVES through rehabilitation research.
PRO members may join community group meetings free-of-charge and learn how to get involved — to help get the research into practice faster and move the rehabilitation field forward.
