COURSE DESCRIPTION

Review the evidence basis for therapeutic techniques for FMDs, including CBT, PT, and OT across different treatment settings.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1. Upon completion, participants will be able to understand the current neuroscientific evidence for Functional Movement Disorders (FMDs)
2. Upon completion, participants will understand the FMD physician’s role for evaluating and triaging FMD patients in the acute hospital setting.
3. Upon completion, participants will understand methods for assessing and managing FMDs in the outpatient clinic setting, including establishing an outpatient FMD clinic.
4. Upon completion, participants will understand the evidence basis for combining Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for treating FMDs across treatment settings.
5. Upon completion, participants will be able to understand the extent and kinds of physical symptom improvement that can follow efficacious rehabilitation for FMDs from observing video case presentations
