Description:
This special symposia aims to take a deeper dive into the relationship of music with resiliency and recovery, through both didactic and live demonstration. We are thrilled to have as our collaborator, the acclaimed songwriter and performer Beth Nielsen Chapman, guiding us all in song and exercise to experience the art form and power of individual creativity. We will discuss and demonstrate self-expression, improvisation, communication and language. Plasticity, neurocircuitry and rehabilitation principles will be incorporated as they relate to music and neurorecovery, and the scientific basis for neurologic music therapy (NMT) will be reviewed.
