Description:

Our failure to implement treatments with precision in physical rehabilitation research and practice is receiving growing attention. Although it is a common concern in healthcare, implementing treatment protocols with high fidelity represents a particular challenge for physical rehabilitation because of the complex nature of our interventions. This presentation will illustrate the scope of these problems by examining the literature on Constraint-Induced Movement therapy. It will provide a theoretically driven approach to specifying the targets, active ingredients, and mechanisms of action of rehabilitation interventions, regardless of discipline, and will discuss other steps needed to improve treatment fidelity.
