BIO

I feel privileged to provide care for patients and their families who have suffered conditions such as acquired and traumatic brain injuries, stroke, and other neurological diseases. It is the ability to help patients cope, adapt, and endure the subsequent upheaval of physical, psychological, emotional, social, and cognitive problems. My goal is improve the quality of life and function of my patients. I particularly enjoy collaborating with our team of therapists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, and other health care providers to understand the rehabilitation issues and potential barriers to ensure optimal care for our patients.
I am also motivated by the opportunity for teaching. I love the interaction with residents and medical students. I embrace the opportunity to mentor and contribute to the growth of future physicians. My dedication to teaching was recognized when I was fortunate to receive the “Teacher of the Year” award by the residents in 2012 and again in 2017 and for the medical students as well in 2017. Prior to moving to California, I was the Co-Director of the Brain Injury Medicine Fellowship through Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Harvard Medical School. I trained future fellows to provide optimal clinical care of patients who have suffered traumatic and acquired brain injuries. In addition, I worked for the Home Base Program which was a joint venture of the Boston Red Sox and Massachusetts General Hospital to treat military veterans suffering traumatic brain injuries and other conditions including post-traumatic stress disorders.
My current position is Medical Director of Brain Injury at California Rehabilitation Institute.
