It’s day four of ACRM Annual Conference and we couldn’t be more excited! The theme this year is Progress in Rehabilitation Research: Translation to Clinical Practice and it’s been incredible to see the diversity of presentations that have deepened our understanding on the theme. Each of our interdisciplinary groups, from Arts & Neuroscience to Spinal Cord Injury, Stroke, and more are gathering and celebrating the diversity of the field of rehabilitation research. We’re especially looking forward to the Henry B. Betts Awards Dinner & Gala tomorrow night and the ACRM Community Group Meetings this Friday.

If you aren’t able to attend the conference this year or would like to stay in the loop of what’s going on while you’re here, follow #ACRM2019 on Twitter, see updates and videos of events on our Facebook page, and check out our YouTube channel.

Do you have the conference app? Download it in the App Store or at Google Play

Every year we work tirelessly to put together this schedule and every year we are stunned with the result. There’s truly nothing more rejuvenating than being in the same space with professionals from around the world who are passionate about improving lives through interdisciplinary rehabilitation research.

Over the course of this week, 50+ instructional courses will be taught; over 250 educational sessions will be held; and 600+ scientific papers and posters will be presented. Not to mention the dozens of community group meetings, large receptions and galas, and the ACRM Rehab EXPO. More so, invaluable networking will be occurring in all of these spaces. Meals will be shared, contact info exchanged, and ideas will circulate.

If it’s your first time here at the ACRM Annual Conference…

we hope that you’re pacing yourself and taking lots of breaks! With so many engaging talks and events it can feel like you’re missing out on something, but know that no one can do it! Trust us, we’ve tried. And know that there’s always going to be another conference next year, so you’ll have a chance to attend that panel on traumatic brain injury rehabilitation that you missed because you needed to duck out and grab a sandwich.

If you’ve been coming to the conference year after year…

welcome back! Many of the rehabilitation researchers and doctors that attend tell us that they look forward to this week because it’s the only time they seem some of their colleagues, especially if they live on the other side of the world.

ACRM Annual Conference is a place where everyone — whatever stage of their career they are in  — can learn something new and leave better-equipped to improve the lives of individuals with disabilities.

If you’ve never been to an ACRM Conference…

We hope that you decide to join us next year in Atlanta! There’s nothing quite like speaking face-to-face with someone who’s research you’ve admired, or meeting new people with similar interests to your own. Conference is an inspiring, collaborative, and most importantly, friendly space.

We are committed to making ACRM and the annual conference as open and nurturing as possible. Our priority is nurturing the careers of early professions in the field of rehabilitation medicine. No matter where you come from or what your title is, know that you are welcome here!
