BIO

Christina is an active qualitative rehabilitation researcher who uses a social justice and equity approach (www.ccghr.ca) to study peer health navigation and peer mentoring for persons with physical disabilities in the USA. She is passionate about understanding person-centered practices in rehabilitation, and works with various stakeholders groups, including CARF International, towards implementing them. Christina’s research has been funded by NIDILRR. She collaborates with investigators from a variety of disciplines and across North America and Europe. She has been methodological consultant in several SCI QUERI studies at the Hines Veteran Hospital in IL, USA; and is Senior Scholar at George Washington University in the Center for Healthcare Innovation and Policy Research. Christina is the co-PI of a NIDILRR funded project to develop and evaluate a peer health navigation intervention for people with physical disabilities in the Chicago area to improve their access to healthcare services. The PI of the study is Dr. Susan Magasi (at the University of Illinois, Chicago). We work with community and clinical partners to accomplish this work.

Christina is also currently working with Dr. Trudy Mallinson (the George Washington University) and Dr. Theresa Pape (Hines, VA in IL and Northwestern University) on understanding change in persons with disorders of consciousness.
