In partnership with ACRM, NIDILRR selects a few ARRT Fellows to present research relevant to the ACRM mission and audience during the ACRM Annual Conference. This year in Atlanta, the panel will feature the following oral presentations.

 

Amma A. Agyemang, PhD, MPH
Virginia Commonwealth University

Title: “Preliminary Efficacy of a Couples’ Intervention to Promote Relationship Quality Following Brain Injury”

Amma A. Agyemang, PhD, MPH, is a post-doctoral fellow in Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology with a focus in Behavioral Medicine from VCU. Dr. Agyemang seeks to understand and address psychological adjustment and sequelae in the context of medical conditions including TBI.

Danbi Lee, OTD, OTR/L
Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine

Title: “Extending the Focus of Self-Management: A Participation-Focused Stroke Self-Management Intervention”

Danbi Lee is a post-doctoral fellow in Health Services and Outcomes Research at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She earned a PhD in Disability Studies and Doctor of Occupational Therapy from University of Illinois at Chicago. Her research focuses on evaluating self-management interventions and outcome measures for people with stroke.

Cheng-Shiu (Joshua) Chung, PhD
University of Pittsburgh

Title: “Daily Activity Performance Evaluation of Commercial Assistive Robotic Manipulator User Interfaces”

Dr. Cheng-Shiu (Joshua) Chung is currently a post-doctoral researcher at the Human Engineering Research Laboratories, University of Pittsburgh. His research interests include rehabilitation engineering and assistive robotics technology, in particular through the assistive robotic manipulators and standard performance evaluation for the human-robotic-interaction among people with upper extremity impairments.

Emily M. Lund, PhD
Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation at Boston University

Title: “Storming and Reforming: The Role of Familial Relationships in Educational Interruptions Among Post-Secondary Students with Psychiatric Disabilities”

Emily M. Lund, PhD, is a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation at Boston University. She has published over 45 peer-reviewed articles. Her primary research interests are violence against people with disabilities; suicide and non-suicidal self-injury; and the experiences of post-secondary and graduate students with disabilities.

Anita Bialunska, PhD
University of Texas at El Paso

Title: “What’s Going On With Auditory Comprehension After Sport-Related Concussion?”

Anita Bialunska is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Texas at El Paso. She received her PhD in Experimental Psychology with high honors from University of Warsaw. She explores brain timing processes with a particular interest in translational science on concussion. In the past, she served as a coordinator of ITN European Union Grant.

Nikhil Kurapata, MD
Medical College of Wisconsin

Title: “Income-to-Needs Ratio on Healthcare Utilization and Long-Term Outcomes in Adults with Pediatric-Onset Spinal Cord Injury”

Nikhil Kurapati, MD, is a medical school graduate from the University of Pittsburgh currently pursuing postdoctoral research at the Medical College of Wisconsin under the ARRT grant from U.S. HSS. His research is focused on the long-term outcomes of pediatric orthopedic or neurologic conditions such as clubfoot and scoliosis.
