Cancer Rehab Update – Fall 2016

CHAIRS UPDATE:

Dear Colleagues,

Lynn H. Gerber

Lynn H. Gerber, MD
2016 Recipient of the Excellence in Cancer Rehabilitation Award

There are so many wonderful things happening in cancer rehabilitation that we can’t possibly cover them all here. However, one highlight is the publication titled “Towards a National Initiative in Cancer Rehabilitation: Recommendations from a Subject Matter Expert Group” that came out of the work sponsored by the Rehabilitation Medicine Department of the Clinical Center at the National Institutes of Health with support from the National Cancer Institute and the National Center for Medical Rehabilitation Research. This new report was published by the ACRM scientific journal,  Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and provides an important “roadmap” for the future of cancer rehabilitation.

We are gearing up for a really exciting fall with four continuous tracks of cancer rehabilitation content at the ACRM 2016 Annual Conference! Our group has grown tremendously, and is the second most represented diagnosis group at the conference. A big thank-you to the ACRM leadership team who have been working hard to support cancer rehabilitation and the work of all of our members.
