Congratulations to Suzanne Burns, PhD, OTR, the 2019 recipient of the ASA/ACRM Young Investigator Award in Post-Acute Stroke Rehabilitation. Dr. Burns is an assistant professor in the School of Occupational Therapy at Texas Woman’s University. This award lectureship is co-sponsored by the American Stroke Association and ACRM, and recognizes professionals who demonstrate drive and commitment to furthering rehabilitation research in the area of post-stroke care, measurement, and/or stroke patient outcomes.

Dr. Burns will present the award lecture, Adults With Post-Stroke Executive Dysfunction: Understanding Real-World Performance in the Lived Environment, on 5 November at the ACRM Annual Conference in Chicago.

 

ABOUT SUZANNE BURNS

Suzanne Perea Burns, PhD, OTR is Assistant Professor at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas. Her research foci are two-fold: (1) examining how post-stroke executive dysfunction manifests during everyday life in the context of the community and (2) developing mHealth interventions to support community living outcomes in persons with disabilities.
