The Excellence in Cancer Rehabilitation Award recognizes someone who has demonstrated excellence in the field of interdisciplinary cancer rehabilitation in one or more important areas including, but not limited to, clinical care, medical education or research.

The 2022 Excellence in Cancer Rehabilitation Award recognizes Arash Asher, MD for the important contributions he has made to the field of cancer rehabilitation medicine. This award will be presented during the Cancer Rehabilitation Networking Group Business meeting at the ACRM 2022 Annual Conference in. Please join us in congratulating him for this outstanding achievement.

 

ABOUT ARASH ASHER

Dr. Arash Asher, MD has served as the Director of Cancer Survivorship & Rehabilitation at the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute at Cedars-Sinai since 2008. He has a special interest in the physical and rehabilitative needs of cancer survivors who continue to experience the effects of their cancer or its treatment. Dr. Asher has led the development a number of unique cancer survivorship programs with his colleagues, including Emerging from the Haze (living with the perceived effects of cancer treatment on cognition), GRACE (Growing Resilience and Courage) and others with the goal of optimizing physical, psychological, and spiritual resilience for patients with cancer. His research interests reflect his passion for improving outcomes for cancer patients and his expertise in the non-pharmacologic management of pain, cancer-related fatigue, cognitive dysfunction, neuropathy, exercise prescription for cancer patients, and the management other musculoskeletal problems. Dr. Asher currently has several active studies, including one evaluating the role of Qi Gong for chemo-induced neuropathy and another that studies the impact of Improvisational Comedy on the well-being of breast cancer survivors.
Dr. Asher completed a physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at the UCLA/Greater Los Angeles VA, and a cancer rehabilitation fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. He is board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
